IHC rejects Ishaq Dar's petition against indictment
Dar had requested the IHC to stop accountability court from conducting trial against him.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday rejected Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s petition against his indictment by an accountability court in a corruption reference filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
In his plea, Dar had requested the IHC to suspend his indictment and stop the court from conducting trial against him. Dar said the accountability court had indicted him without allowing adequate time.
He sought sufficient time for preparing objections against the indictment proceedings.
While announcing his decision on the petition, Justice Athar Minallah said he cannot comment on the Supreme Court s verdict and the IHC has no authority to intervene in the accountability court’s procedure.
It is worth mentioning here that the accountability court had charged Ishaq Dar on September 27 and adjourned the hearing till October 4. Dar was ordered to ensure his presence during the next hearing.
